A sauna can be a pretty awesome thing to acquire. While it is relaxing to be waited on at the spa downtown, having your very own heat haven at home is tops. Until recently though, setting up a sauna was considered a major financial decision. What with costs in the $3000 to $8000 price range, it isn’t surprising.

Nowadays, with the advent of internet marketing and online vendors, you can get a reasonably priced prebuilt unit, particularly a one person sauna, for less than a thousand dollars. Why exactly would you get such a particularly small sauna? For one, it is inexpensive. Saunas for multiple people costs around $1400 and the high-end ones costs a heck of a lot more. A one person sauna will also be appropriate for a smaller home. Surely, it might get a little tricky to have a 6-person sauna installed in a one-room apartment.

First, you’ll have to decide whether you want the portable models or the traditional ones. Portable infrared saunas are one of the cheapest in the market. You can even get one for only $240. However, if you want a more permanent sauna, prebuilt kits for traditional saunas go at around $800 to $1200.

You also have to consider the size. It might sound like a no-brainer; but keep in mind that most one person saunas only have enough room for sitting. Unlike 4-person saunas, you cannot lie on your stomach. So if you like more room, you might want to look for the more expensive units, or have one custom-made.

Next, you have to figure out where you intend to put it. Location matters. An outdoor sauna would be priced differently from an indoor sauna because its material should be able to withstand the possibly harsher elements outside, particularly the weather.

You should also think about your purpose. Do you want one simply to stay healthy, or do you want it as your very own relaxation hub? Do you want one as a home improvement option? If the case is the latter, then you’ll have to choose one that has an elegant outside construction, otherwise, you can just settle for the low-priced, simply functional units. Top of the line saunas are at the 4000-dollar price range and if you want DVD speakers, automatic shut-off features and the whole works, prepare to shell out even more.

Probably the best thing about a one person sauna is its relatively lower price and the fact that you can take your pick among portable and traditional models. Get one for your home and find out what living in the lap of luxury means, even if it’s only during sauna time.

A lot of people love going to the spa and using the sauna room. This is true throughout the world. Regardless of the climate, people love basking in the sauna’s heat. For some, saunas are used for warming up. This is especially true for people who live in colder regions of the world.

But generally, the real reason why people can’t get enough of saunas is because of the health benefits you get from using one. The most common equipment used in saunas around the world is the conventional heater. This heater uses heat, stones and water.

Basically, what this heater does is heat the air inside the sauna room. The steam is good for the skin as it moisturized and hydrates it, but this can become an issue that arises for some people from the use of steam in sauna heating.

If you have ever been to a steam sauna, you would know how difficult it is to breathe. This is especially true right after water is sprinkled into the hot rocks. This is because the room humidity increases, which mean the air you breathe has more water content.

Of course, after the session, you would see that your breathing actually improves after a steam sauna session. But this doesn’t change the fact that staying inside a highly humid steam sauna can be uncomfortable.

Thankfully, a there is a new kind of sauna heater. This new heater uses infrared technology that heats objects instead of the air. This means you no longer need steam in the sauna to heat up. This infrared sauna detoxification is a much more comfortable alternative to steam sauna.

Infrared sauna detoxification works a bit differently than conventional sauna heaters, but it gives you the same results. Infrared technology heat things up just like a microwave oven. The air isn’t heated, but the targeted object, meaning you, feels heat.

Infrared heaters use waves to heat up a body inside the sauna room. It also heats up the wood used in the sauna housing, making the wood’s warmth similar to that of a steamroom.

Infrared sauna detoxification is more comfortable than steamroom saunas because the quality of the air you breathe isn’t compromised. The air in an FIR sauna is relatively less humid than that of a steamroom. This is best kind of sauna for people already living in hot, tropical areas of the world.

If you think saunas are only for rich and upscale people, then you should do a little more research on it. People often think that saunas are only for the rich because, most of the time, you only see them in upscale health clubs and executive spas. It seems like the only way you can use one is by paying big money upfront. This is actually a myth.

Saunas are for everyone. If you think investing money in a health club or executive club membership is impractical, then you can invest instead in your very own sauna. Building your own sauna isn’t as hard as you would think it would be. It is actually fairly simple.

First thing you have to invest in is heating equipment. There are two types of sauna heating equipment. The first one is the conventional heater, which uses a normal heater, stones and water to heat the air.

The other type of heating equipment is the infrared or far infrared sauna. Instead of heating the air, an IR or FIR sauna heats objects directly. Heating equipment is the first thing you should invest in. These are readily available for purchase online and in spa supply stores.

The second thing you should invest in is your sauna housing. Sauna housings are usually made of wood. Wood traps heat better, plus it smells good when you are inside. You might think it would be hard to get housing for an outside sauna. Actually, it is very easy to build an outside sauna.

You have two options when it comes to an outside sauna housing. You can either build it DIY-style, or you could just purchase a pre-made one from the market.

Before you buy any sauna equipment, find the perfect spot to build it. If you have a big back yard, then any place there would be perfect. Ideally, the sauna should be near you house’s backdoor entrance so that you easy enter your house after a sauna session.

Once you find the perfect spot, invest in heating equipment and then decide on which type of housing you are going to use. You can purchase pre-made wooden sauna housings online or in specialty shops. If you have time on your hands and want to make your own housing, expect to invest on a lot of lumber. After all is done, you’ll have your very own steamroom and bathhouse.

For most people, sweating is synonymous with discomfort. And there is some truth to that. After all, sweating can be rather icky and sticky. However, not every form of sweating is. It totally depends on the circumstances of your sweating. For instance, sweating in a steam room is an altogether different story.

A steam room induces hyperthermia, a condition in which your body is hotter than usual, something akin to fever. The difference is that heat induced by a steamroom setting is healthier. The body’s natural reaction in a high-temperature setting is to sweat in order to regulate heat and for you to keep in shape.

Sweating can also help in detoxifying. Sweat contains urea, the same stuff that is in your urine. Sweating releases these and a whole lot of toxins as well, not to mention the bacteria which cannot handle your body’s above-normal temperature.

Sweating is just one of the steam bath benefits explained here. If you want to find out why it is nice to hang-out in a steam-filled bathhouse, and the science behind that pleasant feeling, read on.

A steam bath experience can also be relaxing. It is because it eases tension, and we aren’t just talking about the psychological kind. Aside from the fact that getting the toxins flushed out will make you feel better, a steam bath can ease muscle tensions and relax those stiff muscles.

One of the more widely known steam bath benefits is being therapeutic. If you have respiratory problems such as asthma or sinusitis, you have probably used a vaporizer at some point. A steam bath works that way. This is because the moist air would clear the airways and help you breathe better.

Yet another, lesser known benefit of a steam bath is that it reduces signs of aging, such as sagging skin. This is partly because of the toxins that destroy cells being flushed out in the process of sweating. The increased blood circulation due to your body’s efforts to regulate body temperature can also invigorate skin, making it look healthier. Remember the glowing skin color you get after an hour at the gym?

A steam bath produces a similar effect. More oxygen, as well as nutrients also gets pushed to the surface of the skin, which may have a positive effect on collagen production. Collagen makes bones stronger and helps cell regeneration. That part about cell regeneration makes it partially accountable for firmer skin.

A steam bath benefits a person’s health. However, it is not for everyone. If you have a history or heart problems, acute rheumatoid arthritis, severe infection or are pregnant, it may be better if you consult a physician first. A steam bath increases pulse rate, something that someone with heart problems will have difficulty dealing with. Talking to a physician will give you an idea on the amount of time you can enjoy hanging out in the steamroom.

There’s an old Finnish saying about how illnesses that cannot be cured by booze, tobacco or a trip to the bathhouse are fatal. When you come to think about it, the three are actually the utmost forms of ‘relaxation’ – at least, they have been for some time.

Among the three, the only one you can heartily indulge in without worrying too much about its effects on your health is the sauna. As a matter of fact, health and saunas are often said in the same breathe (think health spas). The problem is that, until recently, setting up a home sauna is rather pricey. The good news is that you can easily find reasonably priced sauna kits online.

When you look for information on sauna cost, you will notice that the prices offered by online vendors and websites are comparatively attractive to those offered by local stores. This is no surprise considering that online stores have less operating expenses. There’s no need for half a dozen sales staff and no need to prettify the display window out front.

Sauna cost depends on a lot of factors, such as the size, the add-ons or accessories, the material used and the brand name of the manufacturers. You also have to consider the location where you intend to install the sauna. This is because the price of an indoor and an outdoor sauna would be different.

The cheapest sauna kits in the market are for one-person saunas. Some manufacturers sell them at less than a thousand dollars. Two-person saunas are of course roomier, but they are priced more than one-person kits, with the price difference ranging from $400 to $2000. If you want a luxurious spa setting, you can get a four-person sauna. The prices of these beauties range from $2300 to more than $5000. The cheapest one in the market, a 6-person sauna is a steal at $2275.

Sauna cost would also vary depending on how customized your choice is, or on the accessories such as ionizers, aromatherapy gear and DVD or radio speakers that you want with it. However, you can save a great deal of money by doing the pre-installation carpentry work yourself. Of course if you aren’t at all skilled at it, you better leave it to the pros or you might end up messing up the location.

Most urban dwellers will often take a trip to the spa to get their sauna fix. If you particularly love your sauna sessions, it might be high time to have one installed in your home. Even with varying sauna costs, it will be well worth it.

One of the best ways to de-stress and unwind is by going to a spa. Spas are the ultimate place to let go and chill out. There, you can get a facial, queue up for a massage, even chill in hot and cold Jacuzzis. But of course, nothing starts off a spa session better than a sauna.

Saunas aren’t just for spas, of course. They are also great for everyday use. Perhaps you could even build your own sauna. Saunas, when used properly, promote good health. And what’s great about it is that you don’t have to stay long in one to get the benefits from using it.

Saunas make you healthy by making your body work. The heat and pressure the sauna puts on your body drives it to function to another level. The heat makes you sweat. Sweating helps you lose extra pounds and get slimmer. The hot steam opens your pores and helps your skin excrete excess oils and toxins. You’ll end up having better looking skin after a sauna.

And of course, the saunas help improve your breathing. It may be hard to breathe while inside a conventional sauna, but after coming out, you will notice an immediate improvement in your respiration.

Imagine the convenience of having your sauna. Actually, it is very easy to build your own sauna with one of the popular sauna kits. Everything depends on what kind of sauna you want.

There really are many kinds of sauna, but if you want to build your own sauna, the best type is the infrared. This is the newer type of sauna and it uses better technology than conventional types. The difference between the two is this: Conventional saunas heat the air; while infrared saunas heat objects. Infrared saunas do not use steam, but can still effectively heat your body.

Examples of infrared saunas are Therasauna and Clearlight. The reason these are better if you want to build your own sauna is because they can be portable. Not only are they easy to install, you can also bring them everywhere. You don’t really have to exert much effort in building your own sauna.

Moreover, infrared saunas have better health benefits. Unlike conventional saunas, breathing won’t be any harder while inside it. Plus, studies show that infrared saunas decrease the pain and fatigue people get from arthritis. Infrared saunas are really good health investments. Getting one for your home or travel is definitely worth the money.

The steam room vs. sauna debate has been going on since the rise of the installation of home saunas in the 60s. In the past, when people talk of a sauna experience, it is almost always associated with steam. Even the Finnish method of using hot rocks creates a wet sauna experience if you pour water over the rocks. To understand what the ruckus is all about, let us take a look at what a steamroom and a sauna truly is, and how they are different from each other.

Steam Room

In a steamroom, either gas or electricity is used to power a device that heats water and converts it to steam. It is a rather direct way of heating because the air is saturated with steam that more or less gets in contact with the skin. Most traditional bathhouses, particularly Turkish ones, use this particular method.

The vapor makes the steam room setting ideal for people who have respiratory problems, particularly sinusitis, asthma, and bronchitis. If you have a cold, this can be a good idea as well because the vapor will clear the airways and help you breathe better. Practically anyone with a condition that can be soothed by a high-moisture or a high-humidity setting would feel better in a steam room.

Sauna

A sauna, on the other hand uses heat waves and not just heat from vapor. These can be heat emitted from rocks, or through a far infrared device. Your body, and not the air, is heated by infrared rays. If you want more humidity, you can pour water over hot sauna rocks. This results in a more manageable humidity level, at least compared to that of a steam room. Far infrared heaters won’t work with hot rocks though. You just place them in a particular spot and they will generate infrared rays to heat your body from there.

This modern sauna is recommended for people with low tolerance for high-humidity environments. It is also good for people who might have wounds or an infection that would not react well to moisture.

The fact that the sauna and the steam room uses heat is never an issue in the steam room vs sauna debate. This means that they share its health benefits, such as detoxification through sweating. But it also means that they share the disadvantages of above-normal temperatures as well, such as the strain it would cause the cardiovascular system.

In building a steamroom or a bathhouse, it is important that you do pre-purchase or pre-building planning. Finding out the factors behind the steam room vs. sauna issue is the first step in finding out which will work best for you.

If you want to learn how to build a steam room, you can either start from scratch, or you can buy a prefabricated one and save yourself from a hefty amount of sawing, measuring and hammering that needs to be done. But building it from scratch means you’ll be saving yourself more money because the shipping costs alone for the kits can get quite expensive. Instead, you can just haul wood on your trusty pick-up truck.

Whether you buy the kit or make it yourself, you still need to set up a frame. You are going to need a carpenter to do that for you, although if you are a skilled handyman, you can do it yourself. You just have to do some planning and research.

First, how large do you want the steamroom to be? Do you want to stretch out or is a little leg room enough? You also need to think about the number of people who will probably be using the sauna. If it’s for family use, go for the 4-person or 6-person units.

Next, the sauna has to be near a water source. It can be a pool, shower; any water outlet will do. This is because you are going to need to take a bath after sweating, not to mention that water is needed for steam, which is what a steam room is all about.

You also need to consider ventilation and insulation. It should be insulated enough to retain heat, but there should be enough ventilation for you to be able to manage the heat levels, and for the sauna to keep smelling fresh.

To build a steam room, you also have to think about the material you are going to use for the frame, for the benches and for the insulation. Cedar is the top choice in wood and you can take your pick between fiberglass and rigid foam for insulation.

Yet another important thing to build a steam room is the heater that you are going to use, especially if you did not buy a kit. As you are going to need steam, you are going to need water heaters. Infrared heaters can be used in the case of a wet sauna where water is to be poured on a hot infrared-heated rock to generate humidity.

Lastly, learn the building codes in your area, and find out about the warranty policy of your prebuilt kit. A licensed electrician is a must but there could be provision for a carpenter.

A steamroom is a worthwhile investment. It will do wonders to your health and well-being. Spending time in a steam bathhouse is known to have a therapeutic effect on someone with respiratory problems such as sinusitis and bronchitis.

A less obvious benefit is the fact that it significantly increases the value of your house. You can expect a better price when you put it up for sale, although you might not want to move out of a house with its own sauna.

The infrared sauna has been a relatively new contender to the traditional bathhouse that people have been enjoying for centuries. Some people choose the sauna over the traditional ones, which are now commonly called a steam room.

This is because of lower electricity costs, lesser heat and significantly less humidity, unless it is a wet sauna where water is poured on hot rocks to get a little steam. People who aren’t used to the humidity and heat of Turkish and Finnish bathhouses would appreciate a relatively dry sauna experience.

If you want to build your own infrared sauna, it might help to know that there are two ways for you to go about it. The first option is building it from scratch, if you are reasonably skilled at carpentry. The second option is for you to buy a sauna kit and just assemble it at home.

If you are planning to build an infrared sauna from scratch, you are going to need infrared heaters, the mandatory carpentry tools (and skills), as well as wood and plywood, preferably older ones because the resin used in newly-made plywood may irritate the skin.

For the heaters, you can choose between far infrared heaters and infrared heating lamps. You can even use both. Far infrared heaters can either be tubular or flat with the former as the better of the two because it is more efficient. Flat surfaces dissipate heat through the back portion, unlike tubular heaters where the heat is released from all sides. It can be ceramic, metal or carbon. When you are shopping for a heater, take at look at the information about their efficiency, as well as the warm-up time.

Next, you’ll have to build an enclosure. The best choice for wood is cedar because it is stain and insect repellent and it doesn’t absorb heat. You will have to install the panels for the frame and get the flooring done. You also have to pay close attention to the insulation; otherwise you would put the rest of the house at risk of moisture damage.

Insulation would also efficiently keep the heat in, but there should also be ventilation to keep the heat at manageable levels and to avoid odor. Fiberglass or rigid foam are the recommended materials.

Next, you can install the benches and put the heaters at the appropriate location. It would depend on the size and the layout of the room. Look up various examples online to get a better idea.

Of course an easier way to build infrared saunas would be to get a pre fabricated kit. That would get rid of the major sawing needed and the need to hunt for an appropriate heater. Of course, in both cases, you would need a licensed electrician to take care of the wiring. For the pre-installation work, you can do it yourself and save some money in the process or yet again go the easy way and have a professional take care of it.

In home saunas are a hot topic of conversation these days, no pun intended. Well maybe a little. Everything is stressful, work is full of pressure. The environment is full of toxins. And you don\’t even have enough time for socializing so you don\’t have an outlet for your stress. Wouldn\’t it be helpful to just unwind every now and then.

Especially with the environment today, filled with pollutants and other harmful elements, it is important to detoxify. Detoxifying will help your body hold up against all the pressures it faces every day. Not only will your body be more ready, you will also look better after a good detoxifying session.

There are actually many ways to detoxify. One of the best ways to do so is by going to a spa. While in a spa, make sure to visit the steamroom.. The steam room, which is a type of sauna, is the best detoxifying facility in a spa. While other activities there help you unwind and relax, saunas help you get excrete toxins from your body. It also helps you slim up.

Saunas use heat technology to do this. Basically, while in a sauna, your body experiences high, yet still comfortable, heat. The heat makes you sweat off all the toxins and excess water in your body. It also cleans the pores, leaving your skin looking better.

Saunas are really great for your health, but as mentioned above, not all people have the time to visit a spa. The best solution for people who have little time to spare is to take advantage of in home saunas.

You might think this is hard, but actually getting your own in home saunas is very easy. The market actually has sauna equipment that is especially made for home and portable use. Examples of these are Therasauna and Clearlight. These saunas mostly use infrared and far infrared technology. These types of saunas use infrared, object heating technology instead of air heating technology that traditional saunas use.

If you want to invest on your own sauna at home, it is actually very easy. Ideally, enclosures for in home saunas should be made of wood. But if you cannot invest in your own wooden sauna room, then a bathroom or a small room would be enough if you are using an simple IR or FIR sauna. As you can see, making your own sauna is very easy. All you need to do is to invest on the right sauna equipment.
